Call for proposals

The University of The Bahamas invites proposals for papers on the theme of “Diaspora: Identity, Migration, and Return” for its 57th meeting of the Southeastern Medieval Association.

We invite individual submissions and panels from all disciplines exploring the concept of diaspora in the Middle Ages, interpreted broadly. We also welcome papers that consider how migration affects the concept of nationhood; conquest, exile, and colonization; economic migration; the pursuit of educational, religious, cultural, or geographical identity; or any related topic. Proposals on other medieval topics or related to teaching are also welcome.

For questions, contact Christine Kozikowski at

Please submit proposals for sessions and for individual papers to no later than June 22, 2018. UPDATED DEADLINE.
